Negara Belakang kita @ Country at the back of us

7

My Machine in Black

1. Negara belakang kita means Thailand, if we facing south. I pick up this title because last week I drove down there up to Songkhla via Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint.
2. The journey take me around 6 hours, departing KL around 4pm. It is worthwhile journey even though it is a long drive north. The weather along the way was good except that the traffic was quite heavy due to long CNY holiday.
3. I am passing the border checkpoints before 8pm, stopping at Changlon to buy car insurance before entering. This is compulsory for all Mlaysian car. Entering using personel car is not that difficult but it is not as sytematic as compared entering into Singapore.
4. Immediately after passing the checkpoint I am taken to a surprise that the road towards Hatyai is wide passig through few towns. I felt like driving in a country far away from Malaysia. What I observed that they celebrated CNY as important as in Malaysia because I can see the road being lite up with red lantern.
5. In Thailand the houses, factories and activities are close to the road, it make rather the road become more lively unlike us the NS highway passing through jungles. There are no toll, interesting, in fact I dont pay any single cents since passing the border. However a small tip from our friend local Changlon guy, always put one ringgit inside the passport, it make the border check become smoother. We followed his advice and he was right no problem or whatsoever encountered.

6. I arrived Hatyai around 8 pm local time (GMT +7). Straight away check in to Sakura Hotel located at the town centre and ready for business dinner with my client.
7. The next day early morning I checked out the hotel and ready for a short journey to Songkhla, my first destination will be the Pavilion Hotel to hae my breakfast. This is my problem whenever travelling to Thailand, the difficulty to find HALAL food. I know there are many for the fact that so many Thailand's muslim living here, but the problem is we do not have local gus that can tell us which one this is the lesson that I need to learn, get a local contact to give me information about the food.

8. Along the way, what I can see is generally Thailanders believe in god. So many tamples along the highway.

9. Public transport was seen as an important mode of transportation in small town. It is seen in below photo. It is not a normal pick up truck!!
